The subsistence harvest of migratory birds has been monitored since the mid-1980's using voluntary household surveys. The AMBCC Harvest Assessment Program started in 2004 and relies on collaboration among the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Alaska Department of Fish & Game, and many Alaska Native organizations. The survey program is approved by the Office of Management and Budget (control number 1018-0124, exp. date 10/31/2019). Continued harvest monitoring allows tracking trends in harvest levels and promotes engagement of subsistence users in resource management.
