Kodiak Region
Subsistence migratory bird harvest begins April 2, 2020 and runs through August 31, 2020. To protect nesting birds, the harvest of seabirds is closed July 1st through July 30th and June 21st to July 21st for all other birds. The Kodiak Island roaded area is currently closed to subsistence harvest of migratory birds; however, regulations to open the roaded area will be published in the Federal Register this spring for public comment. More information on the spring and summer subsistence migratory bird harvest season, including areas open to harvest is available at the offices of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and the Sun’aq Tribe. Closed area consists of all lands and water (including exposed tide lands) east of a line extending from Crag Point in the north to the west end of Saltery Cove in the south and all lands and water south of a line extending from Termination Point along the north side of Cascade Lake extending to Anton Larson Bay. Marine waters adjacent to the closed area are closed to harvest within 500 ft from the water's edge. The offshore islands are open to harvest, for example Woody, Long and Gull islands.
